How do engagements typically start?

Every engagement begins with a discovery call — a no-commitment conversation where we learn about your business, your current financial setup, and what you are trying to accomplish. From there, we scope the work clearly and provide a proposal before anything begins.

Who will I actually be working with?

Accepted Answer

You work directly with senior team members throughout the engagement. There is no handoff to junior staff after the sales call. The people who assess your business are the same people who build your systems and advise you month to month.

Question 3

How long does an engagement typically last?

It depends on the scope. A clean-up or migration project might run four to eight weeks. Ongoing advisory and financial operations engagements are typically month-to-month after an initial assessment phase. We do not lock clients into long-term contracts.

Do you work with businesses outside your listed industries?

Yes. The industries listed on our site reflect where we have the deepest experience, but the financial challenges we address — disconnected systems, poor visibility, manual workflows, lack of strategic guidance — show up across many types of businesses. Reach out and we will tell you honestly whether we are a fit.

What size businesses do you work with?

We primarily work with established businesses in the $1M–$50M revenue range. These are companies that have real financial complexity, real decisions to make, and real need for a finance function that goes beyond basic bookkeeping — but are not yet large enough to justify a full in-house CFO and finance team.

Question 6

Is bookkeeping included in your services?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but it is a supporting service — not our primary focus. We offer bookkeeping, monthly close, and accounting support as part of a broader engagement, or as a standalone service for businesses that need a reliable foundation. Our primary work is consulting, systems design, and financial advisory.

What does a software audit actually involve?

We review your current finance stack end-to-end — what tools you are using, how they connect (or do not), where data is being manually moved, and where the gaps and redundancies are. We then provide a clear assessment of what is working, what should be changed, and what a better-connected stack would look like for your business.

Can you help us migrate from QuickBooks to another platform?

Yes. We manage migrations end-to-end — data mapping, chart of accounts restructuring, historical data transfer, testing, cutover, and post-migration reconciliation. We work across QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and other platforms depending on what fits your business.

Do you provide tax preparation or filing services?

We do not prepare or file tax returns. We work closely with your CPA or tax attorney and deliver clean, organized, fully reconciled books before every deadline. If you need a referral to a tax professional, we are happy to make introductions.

Can you help us build financial models and forecasts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Financial modeling, scenario planning, and rolling cash flow forecasts are core parts of our CFO advisory work. We build models that are grounded in how your business actually operates — not generic templates — and we review them with leadership on a regular cadence.

How do you price your services?

We scope and price each engagement based on the specific work involved. Project-based work (clean-ups, migrations, system builds) is priced as a fixed fee. Ongoing advisory and financial operations engagements are priced as a monthly retainer. You will know the full cost before any work begins.

Question 12

Do you charge for the initial discovery call?

Accepted Answer

No. The discovery call is complimentary. It is a conversation — not a sales pitch — and there is no obligation to move forward.

Question 13

What happens if the scope of work changes?

Accepted Answer

We discuss it before billing for it. If the scope expands materially during an engagement, we will flag it, explain why, and agree on the additional cost before proceeding. We do not add charges without a conversation.

Are there long-term contracts?

Accepted Answer

No. Ongoing engagements are month-to-month after the initial assessment phase. We earn continued business by delivering value — not by locking clients into contracts.

How long does the assessment phase take?

Accepted Answer

Typically one to two weeks, depending on the complexity of your books and systems. During this phase we review your financial records, audit your software stack, map your workflows, and identify the highest-leverage opportunities. We document everything we find and share it with you before recommending next steps.

What do you need from us to get started?

Accepted Answer

Access to your accounting software, a list of the tools your finance function currently uses, and time with the person or people who manage your finances day-to-day. The more context we have upfront, the more useful the assessment will be.

How do you communicate with clients during an engagement?

Accepted Answer

We establish a regular communication cadence at the start of every engagement — typically a standing monthly review call plus async updates as needed. You will always know where things stand and what is coming next.

What if our books are in bad shape?

That is not unusual, and it is not a problem. A significant portion of our work involves financial clean-up — resolving historical discrepancies, reconciling backlogged accounts, and bringing books current from any starting point. We have seen it all. The assessment phase is designed to understand exactly where things stand before we recommend a path forward.
